AFGHANISTAN -- Feeding Programs
ICA began work in the refugee camps of war-torn and politically ravaged Afghanistan in November 2001. Since then, we have partnered with other organizations to feed thousands of Afghan families, delivering hundreds of tons of what, rice, beans, oil, and other resources to people in remote areas who no other type of assistance is available. These areas are considered to be "high risk" by the Afghan government which means that other groups are reluctant to serve in this region. ICA's programs specifically seek to aid the orphans, elderly, widows, and the handicapped in these "high risk" regions. -
ETHIOPIA -- Feeding Programs
ICA has been distributing food to the most severely malnourished families of Ethiopia since 2003. The program has grown tremendously each year, and in 2007 over 260 tons of food went to five different areas of Ethiopia, providing more than 4 million meals! In 2008, 5.6 million meals were delivered in Angatcha (one of 5 areas that ICA serves) ALONE! ICA continues to operate feeding programs in Ethiopia for more than 12,000 people per month. Over 4,000 of these are severely malnourished children and an estimated 60% of them would not survive without the assistance of International Crisis Aid! -
Ethiopia -- Rescue Home for Trafficking Victims
In March 2007, ICA opened the first home for young girls rescued from sex trafficking in the red light district of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. We began with one home, and 6 girls. Now, we have grown to 7 homes and more than 40 girls ages 6-20 that have been rescued from trafficking. Once these girls are rescued they are taken to their new home where they receive food, shelter, emotional and spiritual counseling, schooling, vocational training, & medical care. The ultimate objective of the rescue home is to free girls COMPLETELY from a life of sexual slavery and give them a chance at life that they never knew was possible! -
Ethiopia -- Medical Clinic
February 2008 marked the grand opening of ICA's Medical Clinic in Angacha, Ethiopia. The medical clinic was formerly a government facility that offered sub-standard care to the community due to budget shortfalls. Now that ICA has taken over the clinic, we are able to provide quality healthcare and AIDS education to more than 130,000 men, women, and children -
Cambodia--Rescue Home for Trafficking Victims
In 2007, International Crisis Aid partnered with Hagar International to establish a home for girls ages 4-14 who have been victims of rape and sex trafficking. ICA's workers in Cambodia are on the "frontlines" as they bring these girls out of slavery and into safe homes where girls live and receive where they receive holistic care, food, shelter, and counseling in the comfort of a family. Total rehabilitation and restoration is ICA's vision for each of these beautiful women. -
Ethiopia -- Orphanage for Girls
International Crisis Aid broke ground on the first orphanage in Ethiopia in March 2007. In partnership with International Crisis Relief, ICA will provide a home, food, education, and vocational training for 60 girls that have been orphaned because of HIV/AIDS.
